Honey I’m Home have announced details of their debut EP along with the release of lead single ‘Soon’.

The 6 track EP, which is due out next year, will be accompanied by a VHS release horror short film, created by Mexican director Kiko Morah, that was shot in a disused factory where the songs were initially written.

“‘Soon’ is about always searching for something you can never really reach. You think the next thing will make you happy, but once you get there, you’re already looking for something else. Where our previous songs often had a more catchy pop structure, Soon is much stranger and less predictable. It stays in this melancholic atmosphere, but dynamically it goes all over the place. From very soft and intimate to huge layers of guitars and an almost stoner metal-like riff. Jeff Buckley’s way of playing with those extremes was a big inspiration for us as a band, although we don’t sound anything like him. The song started with a hypnotic guitar loop written in my attic room and took a long time to finally become a song.”

The Dutch quintet comprising of Thom Schotanus, Sofie Ooteman, Jasper Meurs, Hugo de Groot and Evelien Keesmaat, round off years of hard work touring with the release of lead single ‘Soon’. Those efforts playing live also lent themselves to the recording of the EP further down the line, as Jasper Meurs explains:

“For our first real collection of songs we wanted to make it cohesive, and we wanted to focus on the live energy of the band, the live version of the band expresses who we are the best I think. So we recorded all the songs live first, in an abandoned plague house, and then build the rest of the production on top.”

With a few shows planned to finish out 2026, Honey I’m Home hit the road next year from February onwards with Ruby Haunt for a run of gigs in Europe before the release of their debut EP.

New single ‘Soon’ is out now and their debut EP is out on 12 March 2027.
