Gloria de Oliveira has unveiled details of her new album, “The Lying Swans” which is due out at the end of this month and includes lead single ‘Fading Faces’.
The German-Brazilian musician and visual artist returns with a third full-length album that is centered around gothic ideas that resulted the artistic expression of “an oneiric world where enchantment and danger coexist.”
The accompanying music video for ‘Fading Faces’ was directed by de Oliveira and depicts her deserted in the mystic emptiness.
“This is not only the first single, but also the very first piece of music I wrote when I started working on the album. It was also the first song that Randall Dunn and I later recorded together in Iceland. In many ways, it’s the reason the album even exists – ‘Fading Faces’ required me to allow myself this degree of vulnerability that permeates ‘The Lying Swans’. Musically, it still follows the tradition of my previous albums to some extent, while simultaneously drawing on new modes of expression.”
