Fontaines D.C. have released a new track titled ‘Tongue’, the second taster to come from the band’s forthcoming fifth studio album, “Dopamine Chamber”, which is imminently arriving.
Accompanied by a John Angus Stewart-directed video, shot in New York City, ‘Tongue’ is another benchmark of the range the band is hoping to showcase on the record.
“We continued where Romance left off, leaving the live-band elements until they were really needed,”
Conor Curley, Fontaines D.C.
The track evokes elements of manipulation in speed and effects of different elements where the band excel. The record itself is the follow-up to 2024’s UK platinum-certified Romance. Fans and critics are excited about what seems to be the band’s era of showing they are more than a guitar band, writing songs that have long been anchored to this output and transitiong to a more experimental base.
“The album itself is a dopamine chamber. You step inside and we test these different mind- or mood-altering pieces of music on you.”
Grian Chatten, Fontaines D.C.
Fontaines D.C. recently announced their biggest-ever run of headline shows across Europe, UK, and the US – including two nights at Ireland’s Slane Castle (26 and 27 June), The band have also just announced Australian arena dates in Adelaide and Perth alongside appearances at Laneway Festival in February next year.
“DOPAMINE CHAMBER” is released on 16 October via XL RECORDINGS.
