RF Shannon returns with ‘Abalone’, the latest song taken from their new album.

The grooving fiddle track is the second single from the forthcoming LP “Red Swan in Palmetto” which is due out later this month.

“I mostly tried to stay out of the way on this one, in terms of vocal performance. Jeff (drums), Chazz (bass) and I found a groove that I just wanted to keep repeating, because I had this hook in my head. For once I wanted people to be able to get up and move to an RF song. I tend to write slow and hazy songs, but EDM can be slow and hazy too and still get people moving.

When I moved back from LA everyone at Kinda Tropical (in Austin, i love the place) was either a raver or a cowboy. I wanted to bring in fiddle but use it in a way that wasn’t derivative of Texas/western music… so, something like a trancey Texas dance song was the goal here, but without attachment.”

The band will perform a hometown release show in support of the record in Elgin, Texas at the Lightnin’ Bar.
