RobMoro TV | Durand Jones – ‘That Feeling’

Durand Jones shares new single from debut solo record.

Durand Jones has released a track from his solo debut with the wistful ‘That Feeling’.

The album has been in the works for more than ten years. Depicting elements and memories of subjective and artistic characteristics of his past, present and hereafter.

“Wait Til I Get Over” is Jones expressing the most intimate deposition of himself. The track is a souvenir of a key turning point artist’s discovery of love and affection that he lays bare.

“I dedicate this one to a cajun dude out near Lafayette, Louisiana. Back in the day, our bond and love for another was so close and intense that it overwhelmed me. I began to be scared of it and ashamed. I found myself in a corridor trying to find the feelings when I said I would be so many things for him. It’s the first breakup song I’ve ever written, and it’s the first and only love song I’ve written directly to another man. I wanted this song to be a big climatic build of emotions – to capture our frustration, sadness, and nostalgia that comes with the end to any intimate relationship.”

The video itself is a key incarnation of how Jones felt at the time and how he envisaged the relationship unfolding.

Durand Jones is best known as one of the main members of Durand Jones & The Indications. Now, much of “Wait Til I Get Over” is established on Jones’ affinity with his hometown of Hillaryville, Louisiana, a town founded as a form of reparation for previously enslaved black Americans.

Solo debut album “Wait Til I Get Over” is out 5 May, 2023 on Dead Oceans.
