Meernaa gears up for appearances at SXSW with the release of new single ‘I Believe In You’, which is taken from the latest EP.
Songwriter Carly Bond’s nimble lyrics with a salacious nod to the neo-soul genre with a distinctive indie-pop sound.
“Growing up both my parents were addicts. They eventually became sober, but even through their sobriety their mental health was neglected and there was this narrative ingrained in me that I wouldn’t escape their same fate. This song is about actively challenging and changing self-fulfilling prophecies and mustering up the gumption to let myself believe that I had a right to have positive things in my life.”
Meernaa.
On the latest track, Bond delves into solemn themes of dependence and loss with the love and compassion necessary in recovery.
Fans of Meernaa can catch live shows at SXSW in Austin from 14–19 March.
