Jacknife Lee has shared the latest track from his collaborative solo project. Along with a video, ‘Made It Weird’ features Open Mike Eagle on vocal duties this time around.
Known as a producer for the likes of The Killers, U2, R.E.M., Jack Garratt, and Snow Patrol, the project is the first under his own name with an album of talented contributors such as Genesis Owusu, Earl St Clair, Beth Ditto, Sneaks, Haviah Mighty, Petite Noir, Muthoni Drummer Queen, Bibi Bourelly, Barny Fletcher, Aloe Blacc, and Open Mike Eagle.
The Jackie Radinsky video which is a collection of moments where Open Mike Eagle recounting a situation with the help of a little green friend, sliding in and out of transitions easily.
“The Jacknife Lee” wasn’t originally penned to be an album. But following a number of letters sent to artists in admiration of their work, conversations and ‘blind dates’ followed along with the sending of WhatsApp messages containing beats and verses.
The video was made by Jackie Radinsky. Lee had seen and loved his documentaries on Daedelus and Open Mike Eagle, a friend of a friend. He lived locally which allowed Lee to pass the producing mantle to Radinsky to create something completely new.
