Fear not for the seasoned veterans, we will still be able to keep it simple too.

Lowlands | Netherlands

Another Dutch festival, Lowlands is probably well known at this stage. The line-up is likely to be my personal favourite this year, plus there is a lot to choose from which means if you are a group planning to go, then everyone’s tastes will be satisfied. It takes place in rural Biddinghuizen – only an hour away from Amsterdam if you plan to make a longer trip of out it. Of course, there are plenty of things to do on the side as well such as workshops and comedy shows.

Line up: Tame Impala, Twenty One Pilots, A$AP Rocky, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, The National, New Order, Royal Blood, Anne-Marie, Billie Eilish, Franz Ferdinand, Giorgio Moroder, The Good, The Bad & The Queen, James Blake, Jon Hopkins, Jorja Smith, Jungle, Lil Uzi Vert, Paul Kalkbrenner, Ronnie Flex & Deuxperience, Agoria (live), Antal, Colin Benders, Denis Sulta, Denzel Curry, FKJ, Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls, Helena Hauff, Honey Dijon, Hunee, JOJI, Jungle by Night, Lowlands Science, Mall Grab, Marcel Dettmann, My Baby, Parcels, The Streets, Thomas Azier, The Vaccines, Weval, Willem, Ziggy Marley, Bodega, Boy Pablo, The Chats, Clairo, Code Orange, Courtesy, Dimension, Dub Inc., Eskorzo, Idles, Marc Rebillet, Moonlight Benjamin, Pond, Slaves and more.

La Route du Rock is, to no small surprise, a rock festival situated along the north-eastern French coast in the fortress town of Saint-Malo. The line-up has always been impressive for the price and size. So if you want something indie and packed tightly into a few gigs over four days, then this one is a winner.

Line-up: Tame Impala, Hot Chip, Beirut, Metronomy, Deerhunter, Jon Hopkins, The Growlers, Stereolab, Pond, David August, IDLES, Hand Habits, Crows, FONTAINES D.C. Silent Servant, Altın, Gün, Foxwarren, Lena Willikens, Black Midi, Crack Cloud, Pottery, Oktober Lieber
