Gig Guide City and Colour

On Friday, 31 July, The Co-Present On Radiomade.ie. Hosted by Dwayne Woods with sounds and sarcasm from Gav Hennessy.  One Friday a month, The Co-Present Team will take over Thw Workman’s Club Main Venue from midnight to treat music lovers to a performance from one of Ireland’s rising bands and a DJ set – all of which is broadcast live on www.radiomade.ie. This time they’ll be bringing sultry cabaret grunge goddess Naoise Roo and a DJ set from Whipping Boy front man Fergal McKee. (€6 / Midnight)

Little L Records will be bringing an triple hit to The Workman’s Club on Saturday, 1 August.  Performing are Cover, an intricate and complex math-rock band hailing from California. Texas’ finest, halfsleep, bring a plethora of mathy jams with them over to this side of the pond. Plus, Belfast’s leading party prog-krautrock band Blue Whale are taking a trip down south for this super-special show. (€5 / 8pm)

The venue will also host Bank Holiday Sunday bash – Sunday, 2 August.  As per usual, we’re charging you the princely sum of NO EUROS to come along and join – Gangs, Fontaines, Spines, Galants, The Lorraine Club, DJs, a spot of Guilty Pleasures and a sprinkling of our now infamous The Workman’s Club Karaoke. The Lemonheads have announced a headline show at The Academy, Dublin on October. Tickets €23 including booking fee go on sale this Thursday, July 30th, at 10am, from Ticketmaster.

After selling out his first London show in June, acclaimed New Zealand crooner Marlon Williams returns for his first headline tour of the UK and Ireland this Autumn.

Marlon will play a headline show in Dublin’s Academy 2 on 23 October and tickets, €13 including booking fee, are available from Ticketmaster now. *This is an over 18s show – ID required

Nothing But Thieves have announced a headline tour of the UK AND Ireland in October and November, which will follow the release of their self-titled debut album on 16 October via RCA Victor.

The 13-date run will include a show at London’s Electric Ballroom, which will be their biggest headline show thus far, having sold out the Tufnell Park Dome in London earlier this summer as well as a headline show at Dublin’s Academy 2 on 28 November.
