Culture | New Year’s Eve Guide: Dublin 2014

a new 3-day citywide festival planned across the city over three days from 30 December 2014 through to 1 January 2015.Dublin’s new and exciting 3-day citywide New Year’s festival is set to be packed with Arts, Culture and Entertainment. From 30 December 2014 through to 1 January 2015.

Fáilte Ireland in partnership with Dublin City Council are producing the event with organisers Holohan Leisure and MCD Productions.

Love Dublin on the 30 and 31 December will be showcasing various art, spoken word and live entertainment events. Follow a specially designed NYF Arts Trail through Dublin’s galleries while taking in NYF guided tours, talks and pop up performances. This event is free and for the family also.

The NYF Dublin Discovery Trail will offer the tourist in you to experience the city over 2 days.  You can choose from the list of Dublin city’s top 20 cultural venues offering special NYF discounts and guided tours. Full details on http://www.NYFDublin.com

Luminosity will bring a visual light show to the following places on over the tree days: Barnardos Square, Wolfe Tone Square and Trinity College.  As 3D light projections will ‘bring to life’ the facades of some of Dublin’s iconic buildings The family friendly event runs from 5pm to midnight over 3 days.

NYF Food Village will take place at Barnardos Square on 30 December 2014 to 1 January 2015, from 12noon until 9pm at Barnardos Square (Dame Street).

NYF Music Trail: Various Locations -30 December & 31 December 2014.  Follow the trail which includes live performances from Le Galaxie at Meeting House Square, Ruby Sessions at Smock Alley, the Dublin Gospel Choir at Christ Church and Live Music and DJ sessions across Dublin pubs and bars.  Some of the events are ticketed so make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment.

The Procession of Light will go from Stephens Green to Temple Bar and up to Dublin Castle.  The visual spectacle kicks off at 7pm, the Procession of Light is a fantastic free family-friendly event. The magic is unmissable.

NYF Dublin, Three Countdown Concert will take place at College Green on 31 December 2014 with headliners Kodaline with very special guest James Vincent McMorrow leading the way, while  The Dublin Legends, Walking On Cars and The Whereabouts will kick it off 8pm – 12.30am. Unfortunately all tickets have been snapped up for the event.

Resolution Day is an event at the CHQ Building on the Dublin Docklands this New Year’s Day, which is encouraging those looking to ‘Get up, Get Out and Get Active!’ and “kick off the New Year as you mean to go on”. Resolution Day will bring you a host of activities for all ages so you can start your year on the right foot. Join the New Year’s Day Fun Run starting at 12 noon from the CHQ Building. If that isn’t your thing, head over at Christ Church Cathedral, The Trailblazery in association with First Fortnight and NYF Dublin presenta 90 minute creative exploration of life from people who have met adversity and challenge with courage and compassion.
