Music | Review: Foxes at The Academy, Dublin 4/12/2015

It’s been a sensational year for Foxes, with début album “Glorious” charting highly and number of impressive collaborations with Zedd and Rudimental to add to her catalogue, Louisa Rose Allen  and Co. can be happy with how things are progressing.

A few songs into Foxes’ set at The Academy on a nippy Thursday night in Dublin, a real crowd-warming cover of Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ opened minds for some of who tagged along undecided about what they heard.

Foxes’ stage presence is exceptional throughout was excitable, but really lacked something in-between at times.  The set was the right kind of pop however, dancey with indie-pop synths reeling the audience in.  Most of those in the audience were avid followers, singing chorus after chorus to hits such as: ‘Youth’, the lesser known ‘Let Go For Tonight’ and the impressive mashup of Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrop’ and Pharrel’s ‘Happy’.

OVerall a big step up from the small Academy 2 venue some 8 months previous, interesting to see what 2015 holds for Foxes.
