Music | Hard Working Class Heroes announce 2014 music line up

Hard Working Class Heroes have announced the line-up for HWCH 2014. HWCH made the annual call for bands to apply in June and over 500 bands applied via First Music Contact’s self-built platform  104 bands were chosen independently by the top Irish and international music industry professionals.

The event is set to take place between 2 – 4 October throughout Dublin City in The Button Factory, The Workmans Club, The Mercantile, The Twisted Pepper, Bad Bobs, The Grand Social, Meeting House Square..

Now in its twelfth year it has showcased many of Ireland’s best known acts including Delorentos, The Coronas, Fight Like Apes, Villagers, Lisa O’Neill and 2013’s breakthrough act Hozier.

Support for the festival continues from main festival sponsor HMV Ireland, The Arts Council, added support from Failte Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and the NDRC.

This is HMV Ireland’s first year as main sponsor of the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival”,  Chris Keena, Head of Music at HMV Ireland commented.  “We are delighted to be involved in such a crucial event for the domestic music scene.  HMV have provided a direct route to market for local bands in 2014. HWCH 2014 will showcase many of these acts demonstrating the quality of the bands to a wider audience. Over the weekend we aim to bring the vibrancy of the event into our shops with a series of performances from bands on the bill giving fans a chance to meet and greet the bands. We will also set up shop in the venues giving fans a chance to purchase albums on the night during the gigs.  HMV will be part of the panels over the weekend giving advice on the retail and online side of the business.”
