Listen | The Youth Play Share New Single ‘Last Day On Earth’

The Youth Play

The Youth Play bring their diverse and exciting sound to the fore with latest single, ‘Last Day On Earth’.

The new single is from their forthcoming EP “someday, forever” which is due out in August, with previous tracks seeing support from Apple Music, KEXP, NME, and more.

“A song that looks into a journey of self discovery and the adversities of chasing the dream, resolving with the idea that nothing matters, everything dies, today could be your last day so might as well do what we want. It has this almost hypnotic pattern that is constantly evolving, and filled with hope even in its darkest points.”

Diego Bracho.

The EP explores Diego’s personal experiences, looking at the “social, environmental, and humanitarian crisis and the human experience related to them.”

Growing up in Mexico City, lead singer Diego had an unusual journey to music. He worked as an environmental scientist in Barcelona, creating bioplastics from food waste, but realized that profit motives were hindering real progress. Frustrated by this, he turned to music, believing it could inspire people and create meaningful change. As the son of a Mexican laborer and an Argentinian refugee, themes of migration, reinvention, and resistance are deeply ingrained in both Diego’s life and his lyrics.

Diego and bassist Alex left their 9-to-5 jobs to pursue music, where they met younger bandmates Harrison and Fin at ICMP, leading to the formation of The Youth Play. Diego’s songwriting was influenced by heavier British bands like Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine. Their song “someday, forever” explores the search for joy amidst desperation, positioning The Youth Play as a catalyst for change.

New EP “someday, forever” is out on 15 August 2025.
