Donegal songwriter Anna B Savage has sharpened a reflective new track alongside Anna Mieke for us to consume in the form of ‘Agnes’.
Taken her upcoming album, “You & i are Earth”, which is due out early next year, the capricious single ‘Agnes.’ is “inspired by the intersection of fantasy, self-reflection, and the internet”.
“You and I are Earth” is Savage’s third album, was produced by John ‘Spud’ Murphy, known for his work with notable acts like Lankum and Black Midi. It also features contributions from Kate Ellis and Caimin Gilmore from Crash Ensemble, Cormac MacDiarmada from Lankum, and the aforementioned Anna Mieke.
“This song is inspired by Irish folklore, therapy practice, and a tweet. In therapy we had been meditating and visualizing, a practice that is in turns frightening and deeply comforting. Concurrently, I was reading about Selkies and Faeries, and it was when I read this tweet here (here) that I felt the folklore melding with my own personal therapeutic experiences. That moment of potential relief followed by a deep terror, and the act of turning your clothes inside out to release your entrapment from the ‘stray sod’.

Savage is set to tour in 2025 with a run of Irish shows in Cork, Dublin, and Galway in March, plus various shows across the UK and EU. All of which follows a stellar touring year that had seen her open for The Staves and St Vincent.
