Porter Robinson has released the music video for his third single ‘Russian Roulette’ from his third studio album which is due for release next month.
The track differs from previous singles ‘Cheerleader’ and ‘Knock Yourself Out XD’ from the record, offering ‘social commentary’ on ‘the paradox of modern artistry’.
“I’m always toying with and entertaining the idea of oblivion, of career suicide, of disappearing. In ‘Russian Roulette’, I’m trying to reconcile those fantasies against the real responsibilities that hang over me. And then it gets dark, and light all at the same time,”
Porter Robinson
The video for ‘Russian Roulette’ enriches the song by combining social media comments and editorial content to present the lyrics in various mediums. Resulting in a lively visual interpretation of the artist’s ethos.
“SMILE!” is set to release on 26 July via MOM+POP.
