The Bankes Brothers have released their latest single, ‘See Me Run’, the final one before releasing their first EP.
Conceiving ‘See Me Run’ came from a remark made in jest, when guitarist Carson Cleaver quipped with bandmates Morgan and Nelson Bankes about ‘needing to write five songs before the end of the week’ which later worked as the incentive to which they delivered the track.
Clocking in at just under four minutes, ‘See Me Run’ builds gradually with textures that illustrate their influences of The Strokes and Pixies. Featuring an alt-pop song structure not too dissimilar to Noah Kahan and Ryan Beatty – absorbing energy to flourish vibrantly.
“This one is sentimental to our band because it was the first song ever written and recorded. We made a demo the same week as our first gig, so essentially, this was the song that solidified in our minds that we are, in fact, a band.”
Morgan Bankes, The Bankes Brothers.
The quartet, from the Canadian city of Victoria, consists of brothers Nelson and Morgan Bankes on vocals and guitar, lead guitarist Carson Cleaver and drummer Gray Oxley.
The Bankes Brothers’ debut EP “In Waves” is out on 1 March 2024.
