Glen Hansard has announced the release of new single, ‘The Feast of St. John’ featuring Warren Ellis. The track is taken from his fifth solo record “All That Was East Is West Of Me Now”.
The upcoming album will be the first release by the singer-songwriter in over four years. During this time, Hansard has been involved in various collaborative projects with musicians such as Eddie Vedder and Cat Power. Additionally, he has performed live with The Frames and Markéta Irglová/The Swell Season.
The album starts off with a commanding and majestic tune called “The Feast of St. John.” The track showcases the exceptional violin skills of Warren Ellis (known for his work with The Dirty Three and The Bad Seeds) and exudes an energetic and almost mystical atmosphere that seems to come from the far west of Ireland.
You can enjoy the song by watching its intense performance video, which was shot directly facing the camera.
