RobMoro TV | Jamila Woods – ‘Tiny Garden’

Jamila Woods, a musician and poet from Chicago, has announced her upcoming album “Water Made Us” which is set to release in October under Jagjaguwar. The album will also feature artists such as Saba, duendita and Peter CottonTale.

In addition to the album announcement, Woods has also released a new song called ‘Tiny Garden’ which was produced by Wynne Bennett and features duendita.

The music video for the track was self-directed by Woods, features a constant theme of water. The video alternates between beautiful outdoor landscapes and the comfort of a familiar apartment before merging the two together.

“‘Tiny Garden’ is a song about the way my heart beats, the slow and steady way I love. In my directorial debut, I wanted to create a visual representation of how I often feel in relationships – as if I have big feelings that I end up expressing in small, specific ways. The video is set in two landscapes: the reality of a shared flat at the end of winter and an imaginary “heart space” where everything is lush and green. I’ve worked on the choreography with my friend and long-time collaborator Po Chop , so movement becomes key to the merging of these two worlds – everywhere I dance, something is watered, something grows.”

This sparkling and percussive single showcases Woods’ attempts to prove her attachment to someone, despite struggling to express it.

“Water Made Us” is due out on 13 October via Jagjaguwar.
