Music | Kishi Bashi to play Whelan’s show on Euro Tour

Kishi Bashi returns with a new album ‘Lighght’, which takes its name from the one-word poem by minimalist poet Aram Saroyan, and the record (which is pronounced “Light”, by the way) continues and expands the sound of his critically acclaimed debut, ‘151a’, which earned Kishi Bashi the title of “Best New Artist” for 2012 by NPR.

Though violin remains his primary instrument, Kishi Bashi has pop songs, ballads, and some inspiration from ‘70s prog (in the tradition of ELO or Yes).  Bit of a kaleidoscope feel to this album by the sounds of it.

Kishi Bashi has also announced a string of European dates with a stop off in Whelan’s first on the list.
