Music | HMV Grafton Street opening today

HMV Grafton Street has opened today celebrating its official opening with a day full of music, entertainment, exclusive giveaways.

Ministry of Sound DJ Shane Kehoe, and Dublin’s DJ Francois will DJ live from the HMV window on Saturday, while a stellar line-up of Irish bands will perform live in the store during the day, including Limerick’s Hermitage GreenRiptide Movement,  Seo Linn, and Dublin band We Cut Corners. HMV will be giving out free candy floss and popcorn to visitors to the store too.

Gaming lovers can get their hands on one of the most coveted pieces of hardware going, with HMV giving a free PlayStation 4 console to the first person in the queue outside HMV Grafton Street on Saturday morning.  A second Playstation 4 will be given out later that day, with fans urged to check out HMV Ireland’s Twitter page for details.

HMV will also run a fun ‘Selfie’ competition through the @HMVGraftonSt Twitter account on Saturday, where customers are encouraged to take selfies of themselves at HMV Grafton Street, using the hashtag #hmvgrafton.  The best selfies will win fantastic HMV goodies on the day.

Exclusive offers will be available throughout the day, including 40% off ALL vinyl.  There will also be amazing one day only deals across movie, music, games and technology including Blu-ray players for €9.99 and €100 off Xbox One and PS4 consoles.

The opening of HMV Grafton Street brings the total number of HMV stores in Ireland to seven, with stores already open at Henry Street, Dundrum Towncentre and Liffey Valley in Dublin; Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick, at the Quays Shopping Centre in Newry and Donegall Arcade in Belfast.  As well as Grafton Street, a new HMV store will open in Galway’s Edward Square in the near future.  In addition, 46 dual branded Xtra-vision and HMV stores opened around the country in 2013 and early 2014, with a further 6 locations opening in the near future.

All HMV stores in Ireland, with the exception of Newry, will also mark Record Store Celebration day with 40% off all vinyl.
