Clonmel’s Junction Festival is returning for ten days from 4 to 13 July with a rich programme of music and theatre.
The 2014 Festival will bring a host of entertainment from theatre, music events, art installations, guerrilla art events and much more. Growing from a five-day festival to its current ten-day status, at the heart of Clonmel Junction Festival is a programme bursting with shows galore.
Highlights
A semi staged performance of Gluck’s ‘Orfeo and Eurydice’ which will take place in the atmospheric setting of Old St Mary’s Church produced by the Festival.
Daytime theatre events suitable for all ages including ‘Knee Deep’ by the renowned Casus Company, which features an acrobatic display.
‘The Stories That Live in the Streets’ is an Audio Theatre Promenade show created by Clonmel’s Junction Joes, who are a passionate group of young writers, actors and artists aged between 15 and 17.
Evening theatre events include ‘I Do’, by Dante or Die in association with South Street Arts Centre Reading at Raheen House Hotel. This is the Irish premiere of a very special piece of site specific theatre that takes place in 6 hotel bedrooms on the day of a wedding.
Having toured the UK extensively to rave reviews, ‘Bitch Boxer’, from London’s Snuff Box Theatre comes to Tipperary for its Irish premiere.
Clonmel town will also feature daily free concerts in the middle of the town each weekday at lunchtime and on Saturday afternoons as part of the 14th Clonmel Junction Festival. Having toured the UK, France, Canada, South Africa and Australia, Hermitage Green will be bringing their energetic live show to Bakers Bar in a double bill with American roots band Uproot Hootinany.
