Music | The Certain Three Tour to return this April

Now in its fifth year, The Certain Three Tour returns this April with another eclectic line up of three exciting acts to emerge from Ireland and the UK.

Curated and organised by Irish booking agency Word of Mouth, this year’s tour sees psych-rock act The Altered Hours (A Recordings) and New-York/Dublin-based literary pop artist Myles Manley join Manchester’s new stars Patterns (Melodic Records) for five dates across Ireland.

Previous tours featured acts such as: Katie Kim, O Emperor, We Cut Corners, The Lost Brothers and Alessi’s Ark, amongst others.

The Altered Hours play ‘guitar-driven psych rock’ and have played in Europe, including tours with White Hills, Singapore Sling and invitations back to play both Liverpool Festival of Psychedelia and Electric Picnic for two years in a row.

The band will return to Berlin in the coming months to record their debut album in the city’s legendary Funkhaus studio.

Myles Manley is a popstar from Sligo, Ireland who released a first greatest hits collection Greatest Hits 2012-2013 in September 2013.

Myles Manley’s Greatest Hits 2012-2013 was preceded by a further single “Next Please” in summer 2013 and festival appearances at Castlepalooza and Electric Picnic, followed by an Irish and UK tour in support of the release.  A new 7″ single will be released later this year.

Patterns sound like extracts from bands like The Jesus & Mary Chain or My Bloody Valentine.  Their sound is focused around Electro Ambient Rock or what some might call “80s shoegaze and noise pop.

Speaking about the aforementioned 80s influences, Patterns member McAuley explains that they “never wanted to be a rock band in the same way that those guys were” making “music that’s somewhere between drone and pop, almost like it’s stretched in two different directions”.
