Agri Aware launch their new educational resource ‘Dig In’
Agri Aware, the Irish farming and agri-food educational body, have launched new curriculum based initiative called ‘Dig in’. The new programme is designed to help primary and secondary school students gain an understanding of life in the countryside and on the farm, while also teaching them about the Irish agri-food business.
The course will be taught over 19 lessons, covering topics that would feature in geography, science and social studies currently.
Agri Aware chairman, Bernard Donohue, said: “Agri Aware’s ‘Dig In’ is an educational resource which provides information on farming, food and the countryside, it encourages children to learn about the connection between the farm and the food they eat.
‘Dig In’ was co-financed by the EU Commission’s Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development and supported by Agri Aware’s patrons, the IFA and FBD.
For teachers wishing to avail of Agri Aware’s ‘Dig In’ resource pack should contact Agri Aware at 01 4601103 or email: nora.peters@agriaware.ie. Further details are also available at www.agriaware.ie/CAP
