OXEGEN is back again following its break last year, but this time on the August Bank Holiday weekend as we see a new kind of Oxegen that hopes to bring fresh air to the festival’s style.
Moving away from its Rock roots and moved towards a more dance related line up. Red Bull Electric Ballroom will open on Friday evening to get the show going, headlined by Alesso while those arriving in Punchestown on Saturday and Sunday can look forward to headline acts such as Calvin Harris andDavid Guetta on the Heineken Live Project stage.
Organisers have been telling us recently that the Heineken Live Project stage will be the main stage of this year’s festival, hosting some of the world’s biggest electronic and pop acts and giving music fans lots to remember.
Festival goers can expect much more than just music over the course of the weekend. There is the usual extra stuff like funfairs and DJ sets in the campsite, but also appearances by Smirnoff, Forever 21, Skittles, Mr Tayto and River Island to keep an eye out for.
The Red Bull Electric Ballroom is back again this year. Combining its iconic 1940’s art-deco style ballroom décor with a state of the art audio and visual experience that includes 40sqm of LCD displays.
Traveling to Oxegen is covered too. Marathon Travel will operate a €25 return bus from Custom House Quay, while Kelly Travel will operate services from Limerick, Cork and Tipperary. Bus Eireann operate a number of services to Nass, which you can get a shuttle bus from to the festival. You could drive to Oxegen, but traffic delays are expected so public transport would probably be better. The nearest train station is Sallins & Naas, which should be able to get a taxi from.
Acts to see:
Calvin Harris is one of the best DJ’s and Producers you’ll see. Expect the hits to roll on Saturday night.
Alesso is one of the most promising DJ’s and Producers at the moment. Having worked with One Republic and members of Swedish House Mafia. Friday night will kick of in a big way.
Otto Knows is on just before Alesso on Friday night. Most famous for his track Million Voices.
Example’s show have become massive over the past two years. The light show is mean’t to be spectacular.
Nero is on in the Red Bull Electric Ballroom on Saturday night. Best prepare yourself for a lot of bass, a shed load of it.
